Asus inetwork install#
what's interesting is that he said i shouldn't of even been able to install the xb7 since there is only one line in the house which i didn't know at the time when i installed the xb7 and you cant have two separate modems running on one line even thoe we both have different xfinity accounts, i have no idea if since my router combo modem setup is more dominant since it uses ipv6 as well as ipv4 it wont allow the old system to be used again at all even if i have the xb7 completely disconnected, because before with the old setup i only had ipv4 no ipv6 but then all of the sudden when i typed in whats my ip after installing the xb7, i got a ipv6 address. when i talked to support he said when he went to test the modem it was having network intermittency is what it told him. I was able to connect to the wifi on my original asus router and netgear modem and it just showed no connection. ive googled it and tried some methods but if anyone knows something that may work definitively I appreciate it. when i trouble shooted the ethernet connection it said ethernet doesnt have a valid ip configuration.
im not sure what is causing this as i would like to go back to my old system using my asus router and netgear modem. now when i plugin the asus router and netgear modem, all the lights turn green on the net gear modem, but the asus router saturn planet symbol shows up red. I just tried re plugging in my old device which was the asus router and netgear modem that i had which was working perfectly fine before installing the xfi gateway. I had tried to setup the netgear modem and asus router in a different location thinking i could have my own and my dad have his own router and modem but that was not the case at all. I had to create and separate account for myself and setup a plan and what not but in doing so when i installed the XB7 modem and router combo it gave me an ipv6 address including an ipv4 which the ipv4 was the same as when i disconnected it before installing the xb7 the only new thing was this ipv6. However what the agents failed to mention to me was that i only had one line running out of my house that the internet was connected to. Have a different public wan ip address since i would be having a new modem and router combo.
I had originally wanted to add a modem and router to his account so i could have my own internet so i could So I recently got a XB7 and before my family was using a asus router and a netgear modem.
